I got a tattoo on the the 26th and it still hurts a bit and is raised and dry feeling. Is it infected?

  • I clean it as ofter as my artist told me to and I put lotion on it.

    when i got a floral tattoo the green raised up and scabbed. all my other tattoos didn't act this way so i blame it on the color. if its inflammed around the tattoo or theres a ooze like discharge then you need to get it checked out for any sign of infection.

    keep it away from water as much as possible. you need to let it breath so it can dry out and heal. do not use vaseline as it will not allow it to dry. lotion is fine but dont go overboard with it all day. depending on how bad it scabbed you may have to go back for a retouch...hopefully they won't charge you for this since its fairly common.


  • Your skin could just be sensitive. Use antibactial, like dial (ONLY) and put vasaline on it constantly.


  • It will stay raised for a while. Just keep lotion on it


  • It's only been like 4 or 5 days! It's fine that it's still raised. Use A&D Ointment. That is the best thing for tattoos.


  • It's just healing. Don't over moisturize and no picking at scabs as they start itching more. Depending on the spot it may be tender more because of motion and irritation. It's not infected though, this is normal.

    u just do it once a day and u need to be puttin the lotion every time it dries...! (lotion with no alcohol)


  • its going through the healing process.....it will feel dry and raised and will flake......once its starts to heal youre suppose to stop the ointment. If youre concerned or have any questions you should contact the person who gave you the tattoo


  • You need to keep lotion on it and wash it about 3-5 times a day! You NEVER want a tat to scab.. that will cause the color to come out. You want to keep it moist. I have tried letting it scab and it looked like ****!! I got it redone and never let it scab and come out beautiful. don't use nosporin also that is bad for it.

  • dont use lotion..use a&d ointment everything else pulls the ink out!! and make sure u clean it with anti-bacterial soap!!!


  • Perfectly normal. It will scab, get dry and itchy and look like it's not as dark as it is. It will fall off and be perfect and smooth. Make sure to lotion it and wash it gently. Also, DO NOT PICK THE SCABS, they will fall off when they are ready. I know how hard that is, but if you do it takes some color out of the tattoo
